sTRIKE is a solar-powered, electric tricycle. e-bikes are becoming extremely popular especially in developing countries. sTRIKE started as a serious art project, but has become more of a fun hobby. The intention was to create a near-zero carbon footprint form of transportation that would also be 'cool' to ride. The bike is powered by pedaling and by an electric hub motor located in the front wheel. It has a solar-rechargeable battery located above the rear axle. A fully charged battery can transport a 200 lbs. person for nearly 20 miles with a top speed of ~15 mph (or greater with a 48V battery).
